Friends - it was an honor to bring the signatures of so many of you into orbit with me on Space Shuttle Endeavour to the International Space Station. STS-130 was an amazing mission, and was made very special for me by the inclusion of this memento of my own community of musicians. If your name is here, it now has 5.7 million miles on it! Whether or not your signature was on this banner (signed at Scotty's in '09), you were there in spirit, and I appreciate your support for the U.S. space program. The banner will go back to Scotty for permanent display.
your fellow steeler,
Steve Robinson

Steve; Your bedroom is a bigger mess than a teenager's. And don't give me the old `lack of space` excuse!
Great pic.
Thanks for posting,

Welcome home Steve. We're so glad you are able to do what you do for our country. We're more pleased that you are back safely after completing your mission. Thank you for thinking enough of the steel community to take the signed banner with you. It was a very special gesture and we appreciate it very much.
For an astronaut you're really a "down to earth" guy.
Hope to see you in St. Louis. |

Hi Steve, it's not every day us nobodys get to rub elbows (so to speak) with a real live astronaut. We appreiate you my friend and hope you have many many happy lift off's and safe landings. By the way if you plunked a steel guitar string in space in a vaccum would it sustain forever or what? |

Steve.....The idea and subsequent honor of your taking the spirit of steel guitar and it's enthusiasts into space with a banner, was a significant and thoughtful gesture which is greatly appreciated. I regret my signature was not on the banner, however I can assure you, I was there in spirit from liftoff to touchdown.
I look forward to the honor and privilege of meeting you, hopefully at the Dallas show. |

Steve: Roy plans to get an email out to you soon. I just wanted to tell you that we are so proud of you. We kept you in our prayers until you were safely home. You were so wonderful to take that banner up with all our names on it. It will be a treasure to the Hall of Fame show forever. Roy & I are honored to call you our friend. Thanks so much! This means a lot to me and I am sure others as real space travel is something most of us can only dream of and imagine. To think that a small part of each of us took this journey! I hope to be able to see the banner again in St. Louis 2010!
But what I don't understand is how you got that banner to display so flat! Did you use the space iron on it? |
