Newegg has a few along those lines if you search under TV Tuners and limit interface to USB:

If you're only using it here and there then these are fine. If you plan on transferring a ton of VHS tapes to DVD or YouTube then you might want to get one that does the MPEG encoding in hardware.
I use an EyeTV, which is similar to the above, and it works well enough. I've occasionally transferred tapes to DVDs & YouTube with it, but it takes a while so it's not the best solution if you're doing a whole shelf of them. |

Thanks John, I've got some videos that I want to put on DVD but more importantly I have several audio tapes that I would like to get on my computer. I have a laptop that I use for rehearsal and it's muich easier to FF, RW, or LOOP a section with the computer. _________________ Whip Lashaway

Does your computer's sound card have a mic in or line in jack? If it's just audio then that will suffice. You may need an adapter that goes from left & right RCA to a stereo or mono 1/8" plug.
Although I guess if you are doing video as well then one of those USB capture cards will solve both at once. |
