I have been using a MacIntosh computer for personal use at home for the last 2 years. When I bought it I was told that I didn't need antivirus, malware or firewall protection. Recently I have read several articles suggesting that Macs are equally vulnerable. What should be doing to protect myself?

Macs are not equally vulnerable, they are very secure against attacks. I've never used any anti-virus programs on my Macs and I've never had any problems. But you never know what may happen in the future. Malware writers are always up to something. Your best protection is to be behind a router.

Trend Micro has anti virus/malware/Phishing protection for Mac computers. Read the details on my Trend Micro products page, near the bottom of the page (next to the "Smart Surfing for Mac" banner).

Generally speaking if you haven't downloaded pirated software, you don't have a Mac virus.

To enjoy an added level of security you can use one browser just for critical things like banking and shopping. No javascript, cookies, passwords or history except for your specific sites as required. Then use another browser for everything else.
