I'll be making a business trip to San Francisco in March. Does anybody know if Freddie Roulette is performing these days? I can't find any contemporary info, but would love to see him in whatever context.

Last summer I worked a show at Ottawa's Bluesfest with Freddie. It was part of the "Steel Summit" day at the Roots Stage of the festival. He's a real nice cat, and he led us through a set of unrehearsed stuff which was perfect for the very intuitive house band. He plays like nobody else. By the end of the day we had a jam happening which featured Freddie as well as Cindy Cashdollar, Jeff Lange, Bob Taillefer and several other musical souls. All in all it was a very mellow, enjoyable day.
I can't claim to know him well, even though he's one of the few people with whom I've exchanged pipe tobacco... but I got the impression that he's not a detail guy, and if someone else will take care of the details, he'll play 'till the last dog is dead.
Again, he plays like nobody else.
I know Freddie has been associated with an L.A. band called "Daphne Blue" for some time. You might want to google them to see if they're performing somewhere during your time period. I hope you catch him somewhere. Tell him I said hello.

Try contacting
Michael Borbridge - he plays with Freddie in the band "The Lost Legends". You can also find him at the Saloon in North Beach some Friday nights with Johnny Nitro.
