Jim Scott local steel player passed away today, Jim played for Jim an Jesse back in the 70's till his eye sight failed him to the point of being blind. Jim played left handed, was a very fine steel player. Jim spent his last few years as a minister, an had a local radio show where he only played classic country music. Jim was a fine man an I was very proud to call him my friend. Jim was 66

I toured a while with Jim,we played with Don Elkins and did a radio show in Washington Mo.
Jim was always a great person.
R.I.P my friend.

Jerry, sorry you've lost that friend.
I didn't know Jim, but have heard tell
that Jim, being left-handed, and Scotty
would get on each side of a double-neck
steel and play a duet on it!

Sorry to hear this, Jim was a great steel player and a great man, He was the first left handed steel player I ever saw,And seems to me his steel was left handed but strung different somehow, Not sure what was different about it though.

| Yes, Russ Wever is correct. I would face the front of Jim's steel guitar and we would play a duet together on the same guitar! I remember one year at the International Steel Guitar Convention we played Steel Guitar Rag and I was so close to the edge of stage that I actually fell off it. Jim used to come to the Trails Inn and sit on the bandstand next to me and I'm proud that we were friends. I will certainly miss him. Scotty |

Hi Bob I changed strings on Jim's guitar a few times as far as I could tell it was just left handed. It was very awkward for me tuneing the pedals an knee levers, however it was just the same. Jim had fairly new Marlen an a very old Sho Bud both sounded very good. Even though Jim didn't play steel out the last few years he still played for him self an friends at his house. He tried to stay up to date with all the steel player so he could talked about them on the radio.
