I've gotten a new "old generation" Podxt with the firmware that can ONLY be upgraded the FIRST time with a MIDI/USB interface. Not asking for debate.

I remember when I got my first Podxt it had the old firmware, and I remember liking it somewhat. The one where the four buttons chose the 4 channels within the banks that changed with the knob in groups of four.

Does anybody still use this and have any who have switched found the newer firmware more desirable by a big margin?

I think the only difference was the '15" Supro' cab model.

I'm thinking of just leaving it.

Thanks for any input.

I use a POD XT and don't remember the "original" or "old" firmware. I've had mine for several years and it's been updated but I guess I've never paid attention to the updates. I remember the one that added the 15" speaker, which wasn't too long after I got it.

I have the same programs I originally developed for mine - effects only - and what I use.

I have two of the rack mount xt's one of the old version and one with the later one ( it's about 1 year old) and I actually like the older one the best due to what you said about the four buttons.I thought about trying to figure out how to load the older version in my new unit but i was afraid i'd mess the whole thing up (I'm not to great on computer stuff)

Well I've got time to plug it in tonight and fool with it.

This time I'm gonna put my groups of models on the first bunch of banks and delete everything I don't use.

We'll see.

The older firmware with the 4 button feature is great for switching patches onstage quickly. I have upgraded all mine xt's and miss that feature, but not enough to go back. I use a FBV Express foot controller for changing patches now and love it. Plus it has the tuner display built into it.
