Well, so far you got 100% approval in the poll, Marty, but one of us didn't vote!

I had no idea steel had ever been used in Cajun until recently when a friend put on a CD collection of such. There is one guy who is a Cajun steel legend that was really good.
When said friend was down in Cajun country a while back, the players really took to him because his style of steel reminded them of this great player from long ago.

There's no doubt that the "legend" you mentioned is one of my idols. BTW, the purpose of the poll is due to some inquiries about a Cajun Style Course that I sold back in the mid 90's. It sold pretty good back then but it was a book and a cassette with soundtracks, and it's my understanding that these days the preferred format seems to be video, so I'm checking to see if it would be worth the effort. Maybe I should be polling somewhere else too but I'm not aware of where. Any suggestions are welcome--that's why I offered the third option on the poll.

Also, what tuning(s) would your electric material be based on, E9 pedal steel?

I'm intrigued by your reso. Can you tell us more about it? Are you using a 7-string tuning with a high G on top?

You must be related to accordion player Pee Wee Broussard of Lafayette, huh?

Bob, I'll try to answer all of your questions. If I forget one just repost/remind me.

-I have material for E9th and the G tuning. In fact, I already put the E9th course out back in the 90's. I'm thinking of re-issuing it in Video/tab format.

-I'm sure I'm kin to Pee Wee because most Broussards in La. are the decsendants of two brothers who came over from Canada. NOTE: my brother is a great accordion player too. He played bass for Mark Chesnutt (and accordion) for about 8 years.

-My G tuning for reso is a 7-string as you described and I also have a Hipshot Trilogy on it. I have used several different G tunings over the years but have settled on the one you mentioned for reso. On pedal steel it would be different. In fact, I wish I could tinker with B0b's 8-string now. That one intrigues me.

I think that's all the answers. If not, remind me and I'll gladly answer your questions.

Thanks for keeping the steel alive in Cajun music. Most Cajun bands that play outside Louisiana do not include steel, so most of the US population has no idea that there is a rich Cajun steel guitar tradition.
