There should be white text telling you to press a certain key to enter "setup." That might be any of the following keys: Delete, Esc, F1, F2, F10, S1, S2, other.
If your CMOS has changed and you did nothing to cause it to happen, the battery may be dying. Go get a replacement CMOS battery from a drugstore or hardware store. It is usually a model CR 2032 Lithium Ion battery, which is round, the diameter of a nickel, and about 1/8" thick. It is snapped into a round metal enclosure on the motherboard. They pop in and out.
After replacing the battery you will have to reset the CMOS and BIOS settings to either Default, Factory, Failsafe, Recommended, or Safe values. Your CMOS will have a legend on the bottom that tells you what keys to press to reset these values.
You might want to check with the manufacturer of the PC before doing this. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

So far so good, but is there any way to get around pressing F1 to booting? _________________ GFI SD10.Vegas 400, Oblong pedal, Rocket Scientist. |
