I downloaded iTunes 8.2.1, which according to Apple support is the version I need to run with my iMac
10.4.11 system with a G3 processor. When I click on iTunes 8.2.1.dmg desk icon, I just get a message failed to mount "No mountable file systems" Any way that I can straighten this out so that I can open iTunes?

Thanks.

That message means the .dmg is probably corrupt. Try downloading it again. Does your system open other .dmg's?

Cal, thanks for trying to help. I went to a different place than Apple and downloaded iTunes 8.2.1. It took most of the day for it to download. I am on dial up. It downloaded, but it does not have the DMG in the icon, it has EXE. When I click it to open, here is the message: There is no default application specified to open the document iTunessetup 8.2.1 EXE. When I clicked on Choose application, the only two things that were highlighted that I could click on were Apple Script and Mail. I tried them both, but got no where. Now when I click on it, all I get is a thing about setting up a mail account.

According to the download information, the download is 74.36 MB. Because I am on dial up and do not have a dedicated phone line to the computer, it is very hard to get this much time without AOL kicking off. I think that is what happened before. I only got 50 + MB before the AOL quit. I tried a different access number this time, and it did not quit AOL.

So, I am going back to the original Apple dowload site and try again overnight, using the different AOL access number.

I have been trying since Christmas to get the iTunes going, so it looks like I am in for a long haul. I have MP 3 files from my Zoom H2 recorder that I would really like to burn to a CD. Everybody in the band wants to know when I am going to get my computer fixed so I can give them some CD's of our gigs.

BTW, yes another DMG that I have opens fine.

Maybe I will have better luck with the new access number.

Whew, what a rigamarole. An .exe file means it's for Windows - no good to you on a Mac. Maybe you know someone with a high speed internet connection and they could download it and put it on a flash drive for you.
