I've abused my Hilton Power Supply to the point it quit working. I have the bad habit of wrapping up the wire before stowing it in the pack-a-seat and finally the wire going into the transformer has broken. I traced it down and tried to splice it but don't have enough wire left to get a good solder.
I tried a couple of other 9V power supplies I had for various pedals. They just didn't have the umph to power the Hilton.
So, anyone got an on-line source for a replacement power supply? Anyone know of a direct replacement supply that I might pick up locally.
I know that Keith does list power supplies on his web site but I also have heard he's swamped right now and the only way to order is via snail mail with a check. I've got a couple of sessions coming up that I'd really like my pedal for so....
Thanks,
Paul |

Which Hilton Pedal do you have the new style with detachable power supply or the old style?
I don't have my seat, which has the pedal and power supply in it, here right now but the power supply he uses is a "switching" type and probably rated for 1 amp (1000 ma).
There are some switching types that they sell which will power several "stomp boxes" and maybe one of those will work. You've got Sam Ash and Guitar Center there in Orlando and one of those should have them.
Here is one example but use at your own risk since I don't have mine here to confirm actually what the voltage and current requirements are. But, if it's a 9VDC it will probably work. |

Thanks for the suggestions.
I assume I have the older model since I've had it for several years. The power supply is rated at 500 9V 500 mamp.
I tried Sam Ash but the largest thing they stock is the 200 mamp Roland supply for the Boss pedals. I did find a universal supply at Parts-Express rated at 9v 1 amp with a polar reversing option.
One thing I don't know but might be a problem is if the Hilton supply is center positive or center negative. Since the pedal does have a few diodes it would certainly make a difference. I don' want to hurt anything by simply experimenting. |

I looked at the detachable power supply for my new style Hilton, on the job today, and it is 12 VDC not 9VDC. I didn't look at the current rating but I would go for one that is rated at least 1000ma (1A) current rating.
My pedal is not here so I can't confirm which is positive and negative. |

I think I have one like the one you have . It is one of THE FIRST ones made . My Ser #is 0024 . It has a Yellow label . The description on the power supply is as follows : JAMECO ; tel nbr 650-592-8097 ;
Plun In Class 2 Transformer ;Model #AC905F1 ;then this nbr (A410900500U) ;Input 120VAC 60HZ 5W ;
OUTPUT 9VAC 500MA ;Made In Taiwan R.O.C. 1199 .
I also have a couple of the ones with the attached power supplies (which are the best in my opinion) but this one was made before those . It is alao a good pedal but doesn't seem to have the output as the others . The transformer described does not display the polarity . I think it will work either way it is plugged in so the pedal must have an auto polarity switch of some sort . I would assume that any transformer with the output of 9VAC and at least 500 MA would work ok . I hope this helps solve your problem .This one looks like it ;
http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=100853 . You can go to www.jameco.com and look around . |

We Have A Winner!
Thanks Dennis. Mine is just as you describe and the power supply is an exact match. The link looks to be the same and certainly worth the price.
Only one question. Serial Number? I don't seem to have one. Works fine without it, but just curious. |

I was stating the serial number of the pedal. It is on the inside . You have to take the top off to see it . It appears to be roughly etched with an engraving tool . The power supply has only the info I posted on it . I bet that one at that link will work too . Same specs . |

Kind of figured you were talking about the pedal itself. Checked mine, (on the removable plate in my case), #30.
Thanks again.  |

Glad to help. Let me know how it comes out . Maybe I should get a spare adapter for mine . |

My Hilton is one of the very first ones made. It uses a 12v adapter, and I've gone through about 3. I keep a couple on hand, just garden variety 12v DC. I get them on Ebay for about $5 each. Works like a charm until they break, which they all do eventually. Wall warts, I mean. _________________ Mullen RP D10, Peavey NV112, Hilton volume. Hound Dog reso. Piles of other stuff. |

My Hilton is pretty new and the AC adaptor is 24v. Its got the removeable plug Jack mentioned. Heres what mine reads:
I better get a replacement before mine goes too!

Keith Hilton sells spare power supplies (for new detachable pedals, like in the pic Clete posted) for $18, I just ordered 3 spares. I know eventually I'll either accidentally leave one at home, or some lead-footed clumsy oaf bandmate will stomp on and destroy it on the bandstand, so I'll keep a spare in my care, along with the spare volume pedal, bar, picks and tuning wrench.
They don't call me Boy Scout Twang for nothin'!

Like John said, Goodrich: (or any pot pedal) don't leave home without it. For gigs that is, I never do. Just in case, though I've never needed it yet. That says a lot for Hilton, considering my pedal was basically a prototype, used on the road by Jeff Peterson with Clint Black for a long time. Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. If it ever breaks down, I'll be ordering up a new Hilton the next day. _________________ Mullen RP D10, Peavey NV112, Hilton volume. Hound Dog reso. Piles of other stuff. |

Hey Paul I've got two hilton pedals. One is 24 Volts and one is +/- 12. You can get pretty much any kind of supply at DigiKey or Mouser Electronics. www.digikey.com or www.mouser.com. If it were me I'd buy one from Keith. |
