For you West Coasters and fans of BB, my friend Don Burnham asked that I post this info for an upcoming show in March of this year:

Tonight's show at historic LITTLE SWITZERLAND in Sonoma, CA features LOST WEEKEND Western Swing band, and guest vocalist CHRIS O'CONNELL. Chris is an inductee in the Western Swing Hall of Fame; she has sung and recorded with many of Texas' top bands and performers, including Tom Morrell's TIME-WARP TOPHANDS, Ray Benson's ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, with ace guitarist RICH O'BRIEN, and with Nashville's RIDERS IN THE SKY. She is one of the most recorded voices in contemporary Western Swing. Come out and enjoy an evening of great Western Swing with LOST WEEKEND, and our guest CHRIS O'CONNELL. Downbeat around 8:00 PM. (LW's featured vocalist, PAM BRANDON, is off tonight and Pam returns to LITTLE SWITZERLAND with LOST WEEKEND on Saturday, JUNE 26, 2010.)

Sat MAR 20, 2010 LOST WEEKEND lineup:

BOBBY BLACK, steel guitar, vocals

DON BURNHAM, rhythm guitar, vocals

CHRIS O’CONNELL, guest vocalist

PAUL SHELASKY, fiddle

BOB BRUMBELOE, lead guitar

Thanks Herb. I try to remind myself to check the schedule and see when they are coming, and a couple times have missed them because I have spaced it out and didn't check far enough in advance.

I've seen them play at Little Switzerland about four or five times over the past several years, and they have a nice dance floor for my wife and I. You still have some good dancing venues for this type of music in Texas, but it is now a rarity in Northern California.

Don is a great guy, and a fine bandleader. And Paul Shelasky on fiddle is a long-time veteran of country and bluegrass in Northern California. He was a member of one of the great bands from the area, Good Old Persons.

I don't think I have seen Chris sing - this will be a treat.

And to visit with Bobby is always a pleasure - there is no finer gentleman in the steel guitar world (or any other world for that matter), and perhaps in another three lifetimes I will be able to play like him.

There's only one other upright bassist in the bay area that comes close to Bing Nathan too. Looks like an all star line up. Hopefully we'll see you there Mark. :D

Jim Rothermel on reeds and Bobby Black on steel-- it don't get any better than that.

A big bad Burnham bump for this one.

For those of you that haven't seen Don's great western swing band (complete with his horn section "The Longhorns"), and of course Mr. Black on pedal steel, don't miss what Don calls "My Band, Lost Weekend... also known as a flawed business plan" :)

I'll be there in spirit!
