Man, what authority he plays with! I love his playing on Tom Morrells "No Peddlers Allowed" - a must own BTW, along with Mr. Morrell's "Son Of No Peddlers Allowed", featuring Jerry Byrd, among others.

For a real Bobby Koefer treat check out his rhythm steel playing behind Tom Morrell's version of Stardust. Bobby's backup is nothing short of amazing! The track is on "Let's take a ride with Bob and Tommy, Vol. #2 & 3 of How the West was Swung" featuring Tom Morrell and the time-Warp Tophands. I've got the whole series and then some. "Pterodactyl Tales" (Vol. #4) is one of my favorite CDs of all time. I'm on my second copy.

Funny you should say that. Watching him work behind a singer or soloist sometimes it looks like he's actually comping rhythm chords like a big band standard guitarist. He'll ride up and down the neck like a bass player using a downstroke strum style, not string grips. He just becomes part of the rhythm section.

Wonder what's the tuning on these necks. He always uses a straight bar. No slants.

The "No Peddlers Allowed" liner notes list his tunings as follows. I'm guessing these are top to bottom:

E13 - E C# B G# F# D G#

(?) - G Eb C A G E A

A6 - E C# A F# E C# A

The notes reference a "pre columbian" triple neck 8-string Fender. He uses only the first seven strings on each neck.
