What happened to Lloyd Maines..is he no longer in the group ?
Lloyd is in every video or televised "CHICKS"
deal on TV. Even got his name mentioned for being the "Pedal Steel" player in the discussion with the Chicks and James Taylor..
Don't forget,he is Natalies Poppa ...and he is quite good...

I think whenever they are on the road, they have their road steel player, they used to have a steel plare named:"Tony Paoletta".
Don't know what happened to him,but Lloyd Maines is one of my favorites, why is he never on the Texas Steel Guitar Convention in Dallas? |

The Chicks are still touring without a Steel player and full band. When the new Release comes out...than they will to the whole band thing, as Lloyd put it.
Tim Sergent was their steel player before they started touring the more Accoustic CD....and Tim told me he's hoping to be back on with them when they fire back up.
Lloyd plays some select things with them from time to time...and probably always will.

I got a phone call today that may answer your question. The Chicks did do a short acoustic tour in the fall/winter last year without steel. They are however now gearing up for their 2003 tour that begins in March with full plug in band. If you watch David Letterman this week you will see them with their new band. The call I got today was from my friend Robby Turner who will be the Chicks steel player for this tour. Congrates Robby on landing this gig. Robby did share with me that this tour is a blessing from God. So you guys save your $$$$$ so you can buy a ticket when the Chicks come to your town and see them with this great steel player and my dear friend.

Congratulations, Robbie! You're gonna love the gig! The girls are great to work for. You're gonna love working for them and they're gonna love your playing. The work conditions are great...1st class operation all the way. I'm assuming everything's gonna be the same as it was when I was there. We carried our own catering company that was awesome, busses were killer and the whole organization was great to work for. It's not too hard to get pumped up playing for about 20,000 people a night either!!!
Congrats again! You deserve it!
My Best,
Tim Sergent
p.s.
I liked what you played on Pam Tillis' new album too. Except that I have to try to cop all that stuff! |
