Yep, open the YouTube video in Safari, click Command Option A to show the activity window, click on the disclosure triangle next to the YouTube entry and scroll down to a file that has videoplayback in the title, likely the biggest file in the list, and double click on it and it'll download to wherever you have Safari set to download stuff to, like user/downloads. It'll be a .flv file and will play in VLC. _________________ C#

Lee, with my Mac I can just play a you tube video (with firefox) and and there is a place just below the url that gives you a choice of several formats to download the video with like mp4 3gp mp3 etc, I just click on one and it automatically downloads it to my desktop, then I just put it in itunes or wherever I want it. The message says
Download as: FLV 3Gp MP4 HD MP3 (?)
I believe this is a firefox addon or ext |

for linux guys,
wait till the video progress/play bar has filled (red on my machine),then :
look for a file called Flash with a lot of other crap, for me
FlashFwObZa is the file for this youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sdwCoR0HeA
then just copy it to your movie folder with whatever name you want. My movie folder is ~/videos and I am naming it Old_Violin
Whole process including playing with vlc:
open youtube and wait till the scroll bar shows all red then open a terminal and do:
Code: |
cd /tmp
ls
sudo cp -r FlashFwObZa ~/videos/Old_Violin
vlc ~/videos/Old_Violin |
this may work in osx based macs as well, not sure but Cal has that covered. _________________ GFI D10, Fender Steel King, Hilton Vpedal,BoBro, National D dobro, Marrs RGS |

A cool thing about the procedure in my previous post is that you don't have to wait for the whole video to download. _________________ C#
