Hi Ernie, I for one enjoy hearing you talk about your memories from your steel guitar past. I wouldn't let those who doubt you keep you from sharing your storys with us. Especially those who weren't even there.

Ernest. If the stories are not told by the folks who lived them, then we are all the poorer for it. We lose a perspective that only folks like yourself can give, and in time, many are lost and can not be recovered. I would not let those who hear lies and recount them as truth be a bother to you. They are ignorant of the facts and use it only to boost their own ego. Please continue. We very much appreciate it.

I love listening to stories. I had a client that was born in December of 1892. I loved listening to his stories. He said the old guys in his town (in Illinois) used to tell "war stories" to him when he was young. Their "war stories" were from the Civil War. I always thought it amazing that I was talking to someone that knew people that fought in the Civil War.
Keep telling the stories. That's why b0b created a "Stories" section on this Forum.

Sometimes I have to just jump in to straighten out a story that someone who wasn't there tells concerning me. It's amazing how twisted it can get.

Ernie, I know exactly how you feel. Don't stop because of younger people trying to tell you how it was, when they weren't even born then. I too, have stories of artists, and shows, from the late 50's on. Yes there are some stories that would never be repeated, on a public forum, but some are OK. I think all of us who have lived back then, and were there when things happened, know the real story. But I can see why you chose to not reveal what really happened. I'm with you Ernie. Ronnie

Look at it this way ! if we don’t hear it from the pioneers of this
history -- then I guess we only get it from the revisionist , and you
know what that has done for the country - so stand firm on your memory
of musical history -- and thanks for sharing

Ernie,
I want to add my voice to the chorus. Your stories are the first thread I read. They have been a bright spot in my day. The warm manner in which they are told takes us back to a great time. Thank you

Ernie,
You're in pretty good company. Noah, Christopher Columbus, Apostle Paul, Jesus Christ, Al Gore, Rush Limbaugh, etc..... There's always someone with a different idea. Don't worry about it. Just continue to tell the truth as you know it to be. You can't go wrong with that.
The stories are entertaining. I've never heard of many of the people you talk about. It could all be in error and I wouldn't know the difference, or even care. I just know I enjoy hearing about your experiences in music.
I hope you keep them coming for our benefit. If the doubters want to say something, let them write their own stories.
Don't stop posting

Mr. Cawby -
I've enjoyed your posts for years. There will always be people (Forumites) who are eager to take issue with you, to take a contrarian position. It's hard sometimes to have a conversation on-line - it's easy to be misunderstood, easy to feel attacked, especially when you feel you're among friends (which you are).
I learn a ton from guys like you and Billy Tonnesen, Ray Montee, Carl Dixon and others. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. I cringe when I think of this phrase, but "the silent majority" of us want to be connected to our history and heritage. Don't stop sharing. FF.

Mr. Cawby, I know exactly what you mean. That is why I don't post much anymore. I have been out there since 1948. Been there, done that, and seen a lot. Jody.

Jody and Ernie, I heard a quote the other day--"Everyone has the right to be stupid once in awhile. Some abuse that right". They are the ones who don't even notice that many of the greats no longer contribute to the forum anymore.
