What should the distance be from the strings?

Based on what I've seen on peoples' guitars, about 2 quarters like the 710s, depending on the balance you like. I keep mine pretty level from high to low, some people like it farther from the bottom strings.

I suggest that you experiment with this to see if you hear any difference yourself . I have one of my guitars at ''one quarter '' . I think you have to watch to keep buzzing or a rattle out of your guitar . Some players lay their hands to heavy on the strings and they get a noise from that if you get the pickup to high . The key is experiment to make yourself happy . Cool
