I received an email from Facebook from the account of Ray Kedge, with a message asking "Is this your photo?" and a link. Looking innocently enough, I mistakenly clicked on it, and either malware, spyware, or some phishing program entered my computer.

I received anothter "phishing" email from Kedge and this time didn't click on the link. I deleted Ray Kedge from my Friends list.

Now apparently the "Is this your photo? message is being sent to people on my Friends list. THIS IS A SCAM, PHISHING, OR MALWARE that is victimizing us! DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK IN THE MESSAGE!!!!!

I have a message into Facebook now about it and am awaiting a reply. But for now, they recommend changing your password and running virus removal software. DO THIS IMMEDIATELY!

My account was hacked with this about a month ago. I changed my password and thought I was done with it.

However, just this morning I was notified by a friend that I had the bug yet again.

I have once again changed my password.

I don't know how to stop this crazy stuff short of dumping facebook.

Any help is appreciated. What about it Wiz?

Bill, I know how you feel. It's crazy alright.
Maybe the only way to eliminate this pain is to do what you hinted on...dump Facebook

Gregg and I first got it from Ray Kedge. Should we delete Ray and should we still change our password?

Thanks,

p.s.
I'm going to stop confirming people on my facebook, unless I really know them.
I hope everyone understands. Smile

I just signed up for Facebook a few days ago because I wanted to see some pictures someone had referred me to. Now I'm getting bunches of emails from perople I don't know and telling me everytime someone tells someone else what they had for supper, ect.... I figured out how to turn the email notifications off finally.

My wife spends hours on there in the evenings cleaning fish tanks, sending people gifts, playing games, etc.... not for me. Too busy.

This whole thing is not any of our friends doing.
It was FaceBooks software that let it happen.

I received this from Facebook after I request to be Deleted: "We have received a request to permanently delete your account. Your account has been deactivated from the site and will be permanently deleted within 14 days."

Herb nor Bill didn't do anything to cause this.

Danny

Hallo guys,
I had the same thing from Ray and fellow steelie,
Jim Pritchard, these two guys had the common sense
to write a warning on the British Steelies site in
case anybody else gets the same,sh**e, then, this
morning, I had the same "is this your photo" from
another Brit. steelie, John Roache so I am also
going to delete my account.
There is enough problems with virus' and the like
without something like this coming into the steel world !
All the best from a cold, wet Corfu

I've avoided all the facebook, myspace, twitter and similar sites. I have no need for them and when I get invitations to join someone, even if I know it's legitimate, I don't do it.

I received the one supposedly from Theresa's account and later from several others.

However, when I clicked on the link from Teresa, Facebook had it blocked. So, even though we may still be getting these, it does look like Facebook has taken precautionary measures against the attack.

I got the same mesagge from the ones mention on here, and when I got it from Bill, Herb, & Bill I clicked to open and my security came up and said to delete it so I did.
I hope it will be alright without doing any damage.
Too many scams and hackers going around these days.

If anyone feels their system is infected with any type of spyware, malware, or an otherwise virus, trojan etc,

You can use this link to Trend Micro Systems, and use their free "House Call" Version 7.1

If running Windows XP download the scan engine using their 32 bit. and if running Vista or Windows 7, you'll need the 64 bit download.

The site is definitely a good legitimate, & Clean site. Housecall has been free for at least 10 years that I know of. Here is the URL, and you'll find the short download, on the right hand side of the screen. That's simply the engine, and your system scans from their web site. I use it as a secondary precautionary.

Note: Deleting, doesn't remove anything once your computer is infected, since it's in the registry and other places. Removal engines are the only way to clean your system.

Hope that helps someone............ Don
