Hi all.
got myself a bar today but it has a ,hand buffed satin finish,
delivert by mail, when I first ,[held it]. [felt it.]
shock horror, what a rough finish,I always polish my bars
big time,
but suprise suprise, it realy sounds better, fuller in sound, but it does make string noises.
so what do I gain? and why is this so.?
anyone,
Cheers from "Down under". _________________ Linkon d-10 4x8. Fessenden sd-10.5x3. NV 112.G&L telie |

I bought one of those satin finished bars by mistake and I don't like it much because of the string noise. To much of a pain to return it so I'll keep it and maybe someday will find a use for it. |

My guess is your bar is acting like a violin bow. It's texture is grabbing the strings a little when you vibrato your bar.
Some of the energy comes out as unwanted string noise, but some of it adds to the richness and sustain of your sound. _________________ www.swansonillustration.com |
