Doing the annual Blue Xmas show at the Epcor centre (Jack Singer concert hall) at 7pm. Dec. 17. Our guests are Gene Watson, Lisa Brokop and David Church. This is a variety charity that's held every year and the band is cream of the crop Calgary musicians, singers and dancers. We even have a horn section for "old man and his horn" and others. Get your tickets at the Epcor centre ticket office at the hall in downtown Calgary. I'm personally really looking forward to it as I've been a fan of Gene's for 35 or so years, so if you're in town, come and support it.

Thursday nite was a very special one. We did our homework so Gene, Lisa Brokop and David Church were happy. Mission accomplished. Gene's self-effacing and fun to work with, still singing his butt off and such a cool guy, no star trip. The band played well, the odd clam here and there but generally all the parts were there. We had a horn section hired for "Old Man and his Horn" which Gene hadn't sang in years and they nailed it. The bottom floor of Jack Singer Hall was about 90% full and some people in the balconies. It was a long gig (4 hrs.) so people really got their money's worth. I hope any steelers who came enjoyed it, I sure did.
