Recorded 12-16 at a nursing home. I should really practice it before I play it again though.

Not bad considering your pedals are backwards
.
I am sure your other mentor,Garland, is looking down and is as proud as Bill F. Great tone and ideas. And I like "Have Yourself A Merry..." really well too.
Tell your Dad Merry Christmas for me.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Everyone at the nursing home seemed to enjoy the music, and I enjoy playing over there.
For those interested, I ran straight into a Nashville 112.
Jamie: I've got a church video on my YouTube page as well as another video from the same say as this one was recorded here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WftLOaVFHhw.
Bill C: My pedals *are* backwards...that guitar has Emmons pedals, so I am playing backwards.

Jonathon, I really enjoyed your playing in this video. Very tasty. It was nice meeting you at the Station Inn a few weeks ago.

This needs to be bumped up. Listen to the complexity of the way Jonathan plays this song. And knowing Jonathan, it only took him 10 or 15 minutes to put this together.

Which shows again that a lot of it is in the hands.

We'll keep hearing from you, no doubt in my mind.

Great..
That is a natural talent you have JC..
I wish you all the best,
This guy will be 'the player at the top of the A-list' one day..
I will 'eat my steel' if I am not correct and stick it on youtube to prove that I did !

Jonathan, I thoroughly enjoyed your playing and, while in YouTube, watched every one of your videos and enjoyed each one. Very nice and tasteful.
I love the fact that you enjoy playing for the seniors at the nursing home. Watching this took me back to my early years in playing steel as I used to do that. The first time was by request from someone, but thereafter it was because I genuinely loved playing for them.
Believe me when I say they appreciate what you're doing for them more than you can know and I respect it greatly! Keep up the good work.
I agree with Dave in his assessment ... you definitely have the natural gift.

Hi Jonathan,
I have to be honest, your beautiful heart felt playing brought tears to my eyes. My dad was in a nursing home the last 6 years of his life. Dad was a great steel guitarist and musician. I use to play for him during Christmas. This brought back some sweet memories of the last days we shared together.
I am thinking about throwing my bar and picks in the lake but don’t think for a second you have discouraged me.
Please share more of your awesome picking!
Warm Regards,
Jerry Fleming

Yah, more of what Mr Hartley said, if he says you "will be A list", thats one fine compliment. You inspire lap steel players as well. Now if i can just get this practice and determination thing down, I will do fine!

Backwards Pedals

by Bill Ferguson
Oh yes, there is one thing I forgot to mention.
Since Jonathan started playing at age 10, he has always used the DAY pedal set-up.
When he got this Franklin, it has the EMMOMS pedal set-up, plus a bunch of Paul Franklin's own changes.
Jonathan brought this steel to one of my gig's right after receiving the Franklin.
He did not bother to change the pedals.
And he never missed a lick.
Now he is changing his Carter steel over to the Emmons set-up.
Just goes to show this boy's tallent.
