I’m doing my 1st solo pedal steel concert Sunday, 12/20 from 12:00 to 2:00 at a local music store here in Fort Collins, CO.
Spotlight Music has their own café where they serve coffee & smoothie drinks, etc, and in that room they have a good sized stage with plenty of comfortable seating and provide entertainment and demonstrations on a regular basis. There’s no pay involved, but I get to promote my website, sell my new CD, solicit for students, etc.

My CD Steel My Guitar Gently Weeps is available on my new website: http://www.pedalsteelguitarmusic.com

Below are the songs I intend on playing at the show.
I created all the backing tracks myself, with the exception of the ones Jim Barron did with BIAB.
I may do a few without any tracks at all, but I’m not sure yet.

Thanks Chuck.
I think it will be a whole lot of fun.
Some people already have plans for the day, but I know some local steelers will be there, and hopefully we'll gain some new fans of the instrument we love so much as well.
Marc

BTW
I think the next Rocky Mountain Steel Guitar Club meeting is on January 9. I look forward to seeing you then.

Well – it’s over.
It was sure a lot of fun.
I think I had some pretty good moments throughout and not too many oops moments, though I know there was a couple, but it ended up that I didn’t have time to set up my recording gear, so it’s only in my memory now..

I’d say less than a dozen visitors all afternoon, but I’m sure some couldn’t help but hear it as they went into the store. The store owner said he heard people saying that they didn’t know the steel guitar could do all that.

Besides my wife Lorilee, Forum member Leroy Riggs and his wife Margie, Kurt, a local steel player, and Chris Kennison from Seldom Fed Studio and local radio station KRFC came out, and I thank them for their support.
Here’s a couple of pictures Chris took during the show.

This might be a warm-up for me, as Dick Meis has asked me to play at the next club meeting for the Rocky Mountain Steel Guitar Show.

Thanks,
Marc

hi all - Marc did a find job! It was a nice Sunday afternoon of steel - wish there had been more people. But as Marc said, all the patrons heard it as they walked in and out of the store.

I know the store owner, we've talked about doing some radio stuff there.

Some know I do a radio show called "Steel Guitar Jam" on KRFC (www.krfcfm.org) - perhaps there's a way for us to to partner with the music store somtime and present a small steel show / fund raiser for the non-profit radio station. Get Dick Meis, Chuck Lettes, me, Marc, Sally Van Meter and a few other local steelers. Do an aftenoon/evening of steel music -and perhaps kick it off with a live broadcast from that store. If any local steelers are interested, let me know. Perhaps we can tie it into Dicks summer steel show to help promote that event as well.
