Hi,

I have a beat up gibson Ultratone from the 50s thats lost 3 of its 6 tuning pegs.

Anyone know where to find vintage 50s tuners for this guitar?

Also I'm curious if i got the original p90 pickup or its been replaced.. are there any good ways to find out?

best,
petter

The pole piece/adjusting screws on the lap steel pickups have a wider spacing than those found on the spanish electric guitars. If your pickup was replaced with another steel guitar pickup, then you would have to look for other signs such as solder connections or spliced wires.

Replacement tuners may be obtained through Stewart-MacDonald. They also sell replacement tuner buttons if that's all you need.

Unfortunately I doubt you'll be able to find tuner buttons that match the original color used on most Ultratone lap steels.

If you post a photo of the pickup on your Ultratone, we could compare it to known good examples to see if there are any visible differences.

The Ultratone/Century lap steels were produced in many versions over the 20 or so years they were produced.
I have a number of parts that came from early Ultratone lap steels.
In order to know if any of these parts are right for your instrument I need the following information:
What color is the Ultratone?
Does it have a serial number?
What type of tuners are original to the guitar?
