Hello all. I'm fairly new to the reso. Recently traded up from my first squareneck (your basic Rogue) to something a little nicer (Michael Kelly Bayou Deluxe). I've been wondering about string height. From my reading, the higher the better for more down pressure on the spider. However, I would think that also translates to more stress on the neck. At present the strings are 3/8" from the fretboard at the nut and a good 1/2" at the last fret (closest to the saddles). Is this about right? I'm quite happy with its sound as it is. I'm more wondering about possible neck warpage over time. Thanks in advance.

That's about right. A square neck reso can take that kind of tension.

I guess you can go too high and start to choke the tone a bit, but it's way up there. For a squareneck, I wouldn't worry about warping it. Mine is 7/16" at the nut and 1/2" at the 12-fret (distance from center of bass string to fretboard surface).

Robert and Tom, thanks very much for your replies. Sounds like my bridge saddles are set about right.
