I just recently purchased a Peavey L.T.D. amp. from Rick Troyer with J.B.K. 15" speaker in it, the serial # 6A-86-429
It looks as if it was just built. all of the metal on it shines as if it was brand new, the covering dosent have any kind of marks on it anywhere.
On the speaker it has J.B.L. built for peavey Elec.
can anyone tell me what year this was built? and the value of it? I have emailed Peavey about it, but so far no answer.

6A=1976, I believe, the early ones have the JBL speaker. Great amps, I have two, a '77 and '79. Mine both have the old style Black Widow speakers. I can't say about the value, but if it's mint, it's worth more. Pretty lightweight for there size, mine are just over 50lb each.

one of the beautiful things about peavey amps is that they are reasonably priced tools for the working man. i hope people don't start hoarding and jacking the prices up on them.
that said, the ltd with a jbl is one amp i've always wanted...even though i have an ltd and a nv400 with black widows. i played through my friend's nv w/jbl recently and really liked the tone. |

LTD, as in LTD 400? I have one, and am waiting for my peavey label JBL to come back from Woody Woodel all reconed. Mine is old enough to have the chrome knobs. Very cool little amps. A few lbs more in weight than a Nashville 112, yet 210 watts. The LTD 400 has transistors vs. the newer op-amp circuitry--night and day in tone, to me anyways.
The LTD 400's seem to hover around $300-$450, depending on condition. |
