I just called Evans in NC and they said that a guy named Pat Gibbons in Texas was doing the repair now on old amps like my FET 500, which is in need of repair. Is anybody familar with Pat and have had repairs performed by him? Was the turn around time and price reasonable?

I'm not familiar with that name; however, Derrell Stephens, who may have built your amp, is now repairing FET-500's. Derrell is a member of the Forum. Read here:

Lee, thanks, I just sent an e-mail to Derrell. He did build mine, it has his sticker on the back of the amp. It is number 8258. It just all of a sudden quit except for constant static sort of like white noise. No popping or cracking, just a steady static sound. Not the speaker, I hooked it up to another speaker with the same result.

Appreciate your help very much.

I had Pat repair an Evans for me a few months ago. I had a shorted speaker cable, which caused my output transistors to blow. Pat did a great job, and his charge reasonable. His turnaround time was around two weeks.

I have an 86 Evans that was over heating and Pat fixed it up. It sounds great and the good thing is he lives just down the road from me. Pats a good friend and a good guy too. My amp was the first one he worked on. He will treat you right.

Jerry.
