just wondered if there were any people still alive that played with hank williams in the drifting cowboy band.

No Hank expert here, but I don't think so. Hank Jr. wrote a song called The Last Drifting Cowboy when our beloved Don Helms passed away, so I'd say no.

Steel player Gene Fye, who lives in these parts, is still alive. He played with Hank on the Louisiana Hayride for a period. If you google "gene fye" "steel guitar", you'll see some links to stories about him, but it seems that only dated comments about the stories are still there - I can't seem to find any way to get to the actual stories.

I think that is Billie Jean next to Hank. Can anyone ID anyone else?? These may be KWHK staff members, a pick-up band, part-time Drifting Cowboys, or??? Obviously not Don Helms and no sign of a fiddler.

Miss Audrey already passed away a while ago.
