I am very happy for Bill.
Most deserving!
In addition to his great playing
he is quick to offer the hand
of encouragement to many steelers.

Looking Forward to catching you at another show or two and picking with you again.

Atta boy Bill!!Perhaps some of the folk don't know that Jerry B has said a couple of extraordinary things re Bill Stafford, ..."If I were to play pedals I would want to sound like that", ... and something about 'would like to cut an album with BS'.

Congrats to the Southern Master!

Bill's Better half, Betty has been under the weather a little lately and that is the reason he couldn't make it to St Louis this year, I'm hoping to see him back at the Saluda show soon, if not in November, maybe February.

WOW!!! My friend, Billy Easton, called me yesterday, Thursday. and I was very surprised and speachless to hear this news.
It is probably best that I was not there in St. Louis as I would probably still be sitting on that stage unable to walk or do anything except just sit there and wonder.
Thanks to all of you so very much. I will send my thanks to Jerry Bryd and the Award Committee under separate communication and I wish I could thank all of you in person. I will do that in Dallas as I see each of you.
My heart is full tonight!
Scotty mailed the award to me via US Mail. It arrived today and I am glad I had a days notice about receiving this - as I would probably still be siting under the mail box on the road in front of my house- unable to get up and just sit there and wonder.....

And as Jerry Byrd always tells me in his letters and cards -"...keep your thumbpick hot."

Bill: If you should happen back into this thread, Bill Hankey was wondering about your 14 tuning. The thread was something about the 1st string F#-G# raise a few weeks back. Thank you !! I have misplaced the copy you wrote out for me at the Atlanta show.

Regards, Paul

Bill's "Going Home" CD (#CDWMS102) probably gets played more than any other in my collection. It contains most of the tracks from the "My Own Private Idaho" soundtrack which, to my knowledge may be one of the only movies to utilize solo steel guitar. This is ethereal music and refreshing in it's originality. Maybe Bobby Lee can start stocking it so more people can have a chance to listen to it. Congratulations Bill.

Thanks so much for all the nice words.
Still have not discovered the proper words of appreciation for this selection of Jerry Byrd. Need lots of help there I suppose. Anyway, the words you folks have sent me will enable me to practice a lot more.
About the G#, Paul, Alexander Zaalberg in The Netherlands will be publishing the concept in their next newsletter on the Universal tuning along with an interview. This is quite a production and very well done. Address is : http://www. pedalprouniversal.com
And if you have specific questions, just send me an email and I will do the best I can to answer. Appreciate the sound track mention William. Glad you like the music there.
Thanks again.

Thanks John, but as we all know it is the "HAZE GRAY" guitar that has the tone. (LOL).
Thanks for the nice words-and coming from you that is the best yet. Are you used to your new EXCEL D-10 yet? I am anxious to hear it whether it is haze gray or not.
I will be in Breeden's Studio next week for a session. Hope you can drop in and keep me straight.

An award to the most deserving guy I know as a player and as a person. When I think of how a steel guitar should be played and how it is supposed to sound ,I think of Bill Stafford. His C.D's are a constance source of music when the wife and I are traveling. Thanks Bill for being so nice to my wife and I . Your friend Garland and Jean Nash. Gainesville Ga.
