Thats what I thought, but can you be more specific? If anyone can tell, what strings/pedals are being used?

That type of lick typically starts on string group 3,4,5 at say the 12th fret pedals down and requires you to use an alternating thumb 1st & 2nd finger pick blocking pattern and also require a smooth fluid motion as you descend so it sounds like one continuous motion.
If I knew how to post TAB it would make it very easy to explain.
Let's try this.
12th pedals down pick and quickly block string group 3,4 then 5 and block then 3,4 and block.
10th pedals still down play the same pattern and strings as above.
10th pedals up play same pattern and strings as above.
8th pedals up play same pattern and strings as above.
3rd simply pedal into strings 3,4,5 and that's it.
So the picking pattern is a staccato 123 123 123 timing if that helps.
Hope this makes sense. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

I'd say the picking sequence is picking strings 3 and 5 at the same time with both fingers, and then quickly pick the 5th string with your thumb. Pick strings 3 and 5 again, and then string 5... Repeating this over and over...strings 3 and 5 with fingers at the same time, then followed quickly with string 5 with thumb. |

I'm hearing something like this...
Repeating Rhythm Pattern. Must be blocked cleanly after each note or notes picked.

This type of lick can be done with pick blocking as well. It involves the 3,5 and 6 strings. [The octave (3 and 6) is part of the sound.] You pick 3 and 5 with your first and second fingers, and 6 with your thumb. Alternate between the 3-5 and the 6, blocking whichever strings you're not playing. For instance, say you're swinging in the key of C and are in the V chord (G) and wanting to resolve back to the root. Go to the 10th fret, position your fingers and thumb on the above strings with AB pedals in, and alternate the 3-5 and 6 as you descend:
10th fret AB pedals
8th fret AB pedals
8th fret no pedals
6th fret, no pedals
3rd fret AB pedals
It's tricky at first, but after a while it gets easy. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars
