How I've missed BJ Cole's work before now is beyond me, but I am making up for lost time AND am a huge fan. His recent projects "Lush Life" and "Into the Blue" are hauntingly beautiful and really inspiring to me. I'm also listening to the electronica/dance collaborations (earlier albums)...very cool stuff.
Plus, he plays a Kline and I have one in transit to me...
BJ Cole is now at the top of my PSG "players list" |

BJ was playing a Williams a few years ago. He is on a DVD I have with Sting and is playing the Willy on it. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

Yes, he shows a Williams on his site. And a Bigsby too. But i think the Kline is his #1. Still, no matter what instrument he plays, his approach, tone and style(s) are incredible. |

I got to hear BJ last year with Freddy Krc and Wes McGee at Threadgill's here in Austin. Visited with him for a while. A very nice fellow and wonderful player. Very inventive and unique stylings. |

I was was at a small open air free Americana/country festival in my hometown back in the summer. It was fairly low key - there was only a couple of hundred people there all just sitting around in the sun.
Me and a couple of mates had wandered off from the stage area for a couple of hours and eventually meandered back past the stage. As we strolled by I did a double take as there was B.J Cole sitting in with Hank Wangford's band no more than 10 feet away. I had no idea he was playing the festival. No-one I was with had a clue who he was, I think they did by the end! What a player. |

B.J Cole (and Hank DeVito) is the reason I'm trying to learn to play Pedal Steel Guitar!

Pedal steel and cello playing Satie, Purcell, Copland and one original by Emily Burridge (cello). The tones and feeling are just gorgeous. Highly recommend it. |

If you are looking for flat out country playing then look elsewhere, as BJ is not as good as most in this field. Purely I suspect because he is not heavily into country. However, if you want innovation and radical direction then he is as good as it gets.
BJ is one of the better players in the UK. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Telonics TCA-500, Webb 614-E, |
