I actually got to playing the Fender FS52 new version lap steel, the one I put the faux shell material on the fretboard, and for me, I keep accidentally hitting the volume knob Sad -

I would appreciate assistance with how to remove the knob - I checked to see if I could easily remove it by hand by pulling straight up and it won't budge - I'm wanting to make a new lower profile version in hopes that will elivate or minimize the problem - Is it glued on? Do I need some kind of special tool to remove it? Once I do get it off can it be put back on should an eventually new owner prefer the orginal? Since all of this electicallyized stuff is new to me I look forward to your comments - DB

Hmmmmph. You should just be able to loosen the screw, and pull it off. Maybe you could use a flat blade screwdriver between the knob an the mounting nut to get it started? That's what I've done on old knobs that are frozen onto the pot's shaft. Don't overdo it though.
