Ken: Iown a Peavey 30 tube amp, which I am going to mod with new tubes, capacitors and resistors.Steve Ahola posted the mods I am going to try. My question is how do you safely discharge the capacitors? Do I need a special tool?I have searched online, but don"t seem to find the ans.Your help or anybody for that matter would be nice. I don't want to zap the remaining brain cells Laughing Gary

Take a jumper wire from pin 1 of the first preamp tube (the one farthest from the power tubes) ground it out, and with the standby switch in playing position let it drain for 20 seconds or so. Just remember to switch back to standby before turning it on again.

What he said!

However that is a tough amp to even get apart, much less mod!

That is one amp (along with the Delta Blues) that I avoid working on. Once you get it apart you wlil see what I am talking about!!
