'Bye....its history, vapor, dust & archives for me...Im tired of reading the lithium deficiency fueled rantings of nobodys, irritants, malcontents, self stlyed-uncredentialed "experts" & A**holes. I wouldnt let them in my front yard...why have i let them in my living room?
Well "Gherms", this is yer eviction notice. I hope all who fit the above descriptions, once they've totally run off all the pros; will enjoy their own little internet cosmos, devoid of anyone whose talent & achievements may exceed their own.... what a great way to learn...but then, most who fit he above verbiage will never get it out of the basement anyway....

Mike, Remember I commented on how it seems that the only top pro that does not have fragile ego or thin skin was the Big E? You're tougher than that. Please stick around and prove me wrong.
BTW, as much as I want the top players participating and we all greatly appreciate it, this forum will not go away. Several who use to participate (and some of them are top players) thought they would make this Forum go away by agreeing to no longer participate and yet it goes on and has grown.
When b0b posts that he needs more money to cover expenses he gets enough money from us "wanna-bes" to probably pay for a year or more of his expenses.
Keep in mind that many, if not most of the customers of steel guitar merchandise participate or lurk right here. It does not make any sense to alienate one's customer base of such a niche market.
We want all the pros to participate, but if they don't that does not mean I am going away! Sorry, but hero worship only goes so far!

The important function of A**holes is to give you ****; that's their mission in life and where would we be without them? They are also an important reminder of how valuable "quality" people are, so in that regard, they serve a purpose.[This message was edited by chas smith on 05 September 2002 at 04:12 PM.] |

Well Mike I hate to see ya go even though I must say I don't even know you. I have heard some good things about you and nothing bad. Always sad to see the passing of a good guy. I read your post and was trying to see what it is that upset you. I initially thought this was a forum for everyone who plays or likes the pedal steel. That's what made me want to be a part of it anyhow. By the way Mike.. I guess I am a "nobody" when it comes to the steel but have always had high hopes of being "somebody". And it's guys like you and many of the other "pros" on here that inspire me and make me drive harder. I have learned here lately that many steel players can be pretty "sensitive" and I guess it's all in the journey through life. They say that the steel guitar is a dying thing and it's all just a matter of time. I have a 15 year old that I want to see play the steel and learn how to use his heart and soul when playing it.. But he will need "pros" like you to help him...to guide him...to tell him how good he sounds when you know all along that he still needs a lot of work, or worse yet when he plain suks. And he will need "nobodies" like me to share those times when he just wasn't good enough and the "pros" don't want to hang with him. I mean hell man with no "pros" they'll need all the "nobodies" that they can get. Mike, I have never met you and would someday like to... cause we both know you're a better man than that. If you really love that steel like I think, then you'll hang around and sort through the personals and " I know more than you's" and just trust that there are a few "nobodies" like me who appreciate your help along with the other "pros". I mean that sincerely and I am sure I speak for a lot of us. You're a grown man and you have a right to do what you want to and whichever way you go I wish you well. I hope you stay around but if not... God Bless ya my friend.

Mike, why is it that you think you can bad mouth the 99% of the peopel that play steel, but you don't want anyone to say anything bad about the 1% that call them selfs a pro. The way I see it you need the fourm more than the fourm needs you. After all before the fourm who know or even cared who you were? But, if you must take your toys and go home, again, Happy trails and good luck. |

Bob D-I didnt read into this that Mike is putting down 99% of the steel players here-and I knew him and his abilities long before The Forum came along-we have done thousands and thousands of $$$$ in business through the last twenty some years and much of it has been profitable-I also owe Mike Cass many thanks for helping me to get backstage at the Opry (when it was real country) several times- those were some of the grandest nights of my entire life |

Mike, I know exactly what you mean, and have the utmost respect for you for voicing it. As far as needing the forum more than the forum needs you, how long had you been playing before you ever were on the forum. I feel the same damn way. I had been playing 4o some years before I ever logged on to the forum. I can go on many, many, more without it. I only log on now and then if I get bored and want a good laugh.

one last post....my above comments were directed at those who use this forum & those on it as their own personal whippin' posts. I in NO WAY intended my remarks for the other 99.99% of folks on here who truly love the steel guitar and are decent human beings...any other assumption would be quite incorrect. Pollard started the rumor that Im having more surgery by pulling up an old post of mine from last year before i did go under the knife....there is none in my immediate future, unless its to remove my fingers from this keyboard
Give it up asshole...you'll not goad me into pushing this to the next level,
..... you just aint worth it.
bye. close it up b0b
