Here's a dumb question-does anyone have a video or other instructional advice of the recommended way of stringing an older Fender Stringmaster. I have a T-3 24' scale and though I have lots of dobros, guitars and lap steels I still wonder about the best method for stringing this guitar, so thanks for any advice or hands-on directions.

Do you trim the string end first? |

I used the method for stringing any slot head guitar. Here is pdf file from Taylor Guitars. (Scroll down to "slot head guitars".
Oh, and start with the tuners closest to the nut first, and work your way back.

Yes. Measure by using the length of two more tuning posts above the one you are stringing, and cut. (The stringing guide says one and a half.) |

You're welcome. I found that tip #15 is important, as it locks the string in and prevents slipping:
"One wrap goes on the inside; the rest of the wraps go on the outside of the string end, toward the tuners." |

Old thread, but useful as I consider restringing my Stringmaster tonight...never had a slot head guitar before (aside from my cheap nylon string, and I was absolutely doing it wrong ). Thanks, Forumites From Ages Past! |
