These were posted on the ISGC link but thought they might get better exposure on pedal steel! This is a brand new one that Fred just finished and will have in St. Louis. Looks like a piece of art to me. Ray

Calvin, were you born dumb or did you have to work at it? I know that you have an opinion but it don't amount much to me! I don't know why you have to flame a brand new guitar with your inexperience. Ray _________________ Ray Qualls

(Would it help if we explained it to you?)
The model is called "The Judge"?
I think it's cool . . . clever . . . focussed and thematically coherent. Certainly lends itself to some swell slogans and ad campaigns. |

Hey Ray
Sent this email to Fred trying to trade him out of this guitar.
"Sure is pretty. Trade ya Two stuffed possums , a 5 gallon buket of crawdads, a case of blue point crabs, and 25 lbs 6-9 count shrimp.

MAn when I see all these beautiful steels like the Justice and Weenick, I realize how far I have to go before I can turn out a product like that.... _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

I met Fred last month at The Rocky Mountain Steel Guitar Show and I bought some strings from him while I was there. He seemed like a very nice guy and his pedal steel guitars looked and sounded great.
He certainly did a fantastic job when he played it during the show.
Here are a couple of pictures I took while I was there.
One is of Fred just before beginning his performance and the other is the banner at his display table.

You're being a little harsh with Calvin. He complimented the guitar, but just expressed his opinion about the logo. I don't think that constitutes "flaming the guitar"........I'm sure Fred builds a great axe, but, like Calvin, I don't care for the logo either. |

I got to jam with Fred in Springfield, Mo a few weeks ago and the logo didn,t seem to hurt the sound of the guitar none. Fred is a great player and a good friend to everyone he meets. Of course we all have our openions and an honest openion is fine I think. Buck _________________ Music to light up your life |

Maybe I was a little harsh but "the worst looking logo I've ever seen" was just as harsh! I know how hard that Fred has worked getting his steel guitars off the ground. For someone who can't spell Maverick on his own avatar, doesn't have much warrant for an opinion to me. I'm just trying to give credit where credit is due and I think that Fred deserves positive credit for what he's doing. _________________ Ray Qualls

Ray
just for the record ...the guitar looks like a great guitar and i would have 0 problems with it
except i don't like the size of the logo
or the way the J looks and the T looks cheesy
that has nothing to do with the way the guitar will perform.
i have no reason to think the guitar is not well built or plays like a dream
i am entitled to my taste in things just like everyone else is
i have never had the pleasure of meeting a newborn that wasn't dumb, so yea i guess i was born dumb just like the rest of us were
one other thing ..even someone has never owned a steel guitar, they can still voice if they like the logo or not !!! _________________ proud parent of a sailor

Hey Guys
I was Born smart as hell the only problem back then was that my bottom side couldn't tell the difference between gas, solid, and liquid.
Seems to me I've gotten dumber as the years go by.
Worked with Fred at the Dallas Show and spent a lot of time behind his guitars. Super smooth, great tone, and very comfortable. Oh I almost forgot to mention SSSSUUUUSSSTTTAAAIIINN out of this world _________________ Daniel J. Cormier

I had the opportunity to sit down and play one of these guitars at our steel guitar show in Branson recently. They are fine. Plays great, sounds great, the knee lever placement is great and looks great. Can't ask for much more. |

I also had the privelege of playing one of Freds guitars at Dallas. One of the smoothest and easiest guitars I've ever played with tone to the bone. Knee levers were very easy to play. If you get to see the underside, you will see one of the most thought out and very stout although extremely light guitars out there.I happen to be one of those who dont feel right unless I'm behind a double or I would own one. I also know that Fred poured his soul out developing this guitar and I think he came up with a winner. Lots of people are going to singles and should definitely check out Freds new guitar. Fred is a great guy and I'm proud to call him my friend.

It's the man that stands behind his guitars that really counts. Lots of fine guitars on the market and Fred's is right at the top. Quality and service. |

I like the logo! (Shows creativity, ya' know.)
Now, let's see...
We'll call the student model "The Baliff", and then we could make the D10 pro model "The Prosecutor".
(I rest my case.) |

Excellent. (See? That's what I was gettin' at about how well this theme lends itself to marketing.)
An S-10 could be "The Clerk." "The Commissioner" suits the SD-10. (I'd like to see the D-10 be "The Judge", but, hey, I'm a pro bono consultant who's worth every cent he's paid.)
More model name possibilities: "The DA," "The Barrister," "The Marshall," and for that whopping D-12, "The Chief Justice." (Litigate on those for awhile.)
