a couple of years ago I posted a problem with the limiter light on all of the time. Mike Brown suggested possibly it had to do with maybe something in the speaker causing it. I put the amp up and hadn't touched it since. I pulled it back out and substituted another speaker and this did not affect yellow light on and of course, volumn drop. Thought I might float it out there again and see if anybody had a similar problem, thanks. |

When mine did that it was the filter caps in the power supply. Considering the age of a Session 500, if the caps have never been replaced that is a good place to start. |

Jack is correct if the filter caps have never been replaced, you need to do that. Peavey can supply the correct parts for the 500. Their service and parts people are great. Call on Tuesday or Wed. They are usually busy on Monday.
Another problem area is the "Molex" connectors. They were "high tech" in the 70' but they can become loose with age. I suggest you take the amp apart and re-seat each connector and take a small screw driver and gently press each wire down in the top of each connector. I have fixed many Peavey amps by doing this to each connector. If you are un-sure working with electronics have an amp tech to it for you.
The 500 has more than one chassis so be careful when you take then out to not pull the connections off before you see where they go. The power supply is heavy.
