I got a call to play with a band I never heard of at a place I never heard of, called The British Rose at 8989 Forest Ave., near Greenville in northeast Dallas. This will be my first time playing in this part of town, so if any of you Dallas pickers are off and in the area, I'd like to meet you.

JIm I hope someone heard of the place and went out that night to hear you... Now theres a song,.."NOBODY HEARD OF THE BAND,....AND NOBODY HEARD OF THE PLACE.... WHERE NO ONE CAME OUT THAT NIGHT....TO BE WHERE NOBODY GOES .... THE MUSIC WAS LOUD..AND THE ONE PERSON CROWD...KEPT WANTING TO SIT IN WITH THE BAND NOBODY KNOWS......2 NO ONE WAS DRINKING SO the BARTENDER GOT STINKING..PASSED OUT BEFORE THE THIRD SET . SO WE HELPED OURSELVES TO THE DRINKS ON TOP SHELF,, CAUSE WE KNEW THAT NIGHT THATS ALL WE WOULD GET...(bridge) WE WERE PLAYING FOR THE DOOR, SO I TOOK IT DOWN, THREW IT ON BACK OF MY TRUCK.....HOW DO WE SPLIT A BEAT UP OLD DOOR ,BETWEEN 5 GUYS DOWN ON THEIR LUCK.....WHO BOOKED THIS GIG WHERE NOBODY CAME,,,STAND UP HAVE YOUR BIT TO SAY....AND TELL ME WHAT PART OF THE DOOR DO I SEND OUT TOMMORROW,, TO ALL OF THE BILLS I PROMISED TO PAY"... Well, no steel players showed up, that would admit it anyway . The funny thing is, I had played with these guys about a year ago, but we didn't remember each other until I walked in the door! They're a real good band, I had a great time, and am playing with them again on the 19th and 20th in Lewisville.

Would I split it with Jim? Heck yeah but I was thinking of making some kind of a deal towards the st. Louis convention Hotel Bill. But Jim being that he still has his first and last dollar may not accept that. You know those Maine-e-acts?
