"tech-work" for pedal steel by John Widgren in CT.

Just an FYI for anyone needing any work done on your steel or pedal steel
guitar. I just had John do some "teching" & "tweaking" on both my Zum
and Derby, as well as adding a knee lever change to each.

John does excellent work and I recommend him highly.

If you need his contact info, you can either email me or look him up
on the "forum".

btw, he is also a whale of a player and a heck of a nice guy.

I'll second that-Whether it's a PP Emmons or an all-pull guitar, John will get it playing as well as it can play.

Purchased an Amp from John.
Beautifully packaged, extra
goodies included, some kind
words and education, freely
given to a newbie. I'd deal
with John again, in the
proverbial 'New York Minute'-
which I understand the definition
is; " The amount of time from
when the light turns 'green', to
when the 1st horn sounds. "

Thanks friends

Thank you all for your kind words. Very much appreciated. As we all know, gigs and tours and opportunities to play are becoming more and more scarce. It has always been my top priority to play, and that remains to be true, but I can say that rebuilding, repairing, teching, and tweeking our marvelous machine has helped to keep me going. The added benefit is that (as in playing music) I am privileged to meet some great folks along the way.

It's always my pleasure to be of service in any way.

Just saw this thread about John. I've had John's advice and service on everything from push-pulls to all-pulls, speakers and cab's, and every steer he's given me has been solid and excellent. He's a master refinisher too. I highly recommend him as a tech; but as others have said, he's also a great player on both necks and a wonderful, helpful teacher of the steel. His location is about an hour outside of NYC and he is well worth the trip. Makes a good sandwich too!

Lets see, John has helped me with my Franklin, Shobud, MSA's, Desert Rose, Emmons, Zum, Rains, as well as some electronic stuff. Great teacher and nice guy. John does it all. When I get stuck and can't figure something out he is always just a phone call away. I learn alot just from watching him work. I would not hesitate to recomend John for anything related to steel guitar. I'm sure you will end up with quality work as well as a new friend.

John is one of those Renaissance men who can and do everything. He is a sculptor, welder, cabinetry finisher, all-purpose fabricator, teacher, musician, kayaker/m'cycle-rider, minor geologist, and among all of this and much more he is a barbecue smoker/chef/short-order cook extraordinaire.

oops!

Allow me to add my $.02 on this subject -- anyone needing PSG tech work in the New England area would be well advised to contact John. He is highly knowledgeable, conscientious and helpful, and a real gentleman to boot.
If you are lucky enough to take a lesson from him he will show you some great stuff too.
