I'm looking at the pedal and knee-lever tuners on my guitar. I have an early '70s BMI D-10 and some of the nylon tuners stick out farther than others. One or two of them are just about impossible to get the wrench on to tune. I took a couple of them off of the rods and they seem to be the same length. Do these wear out? Do they need to be replaced eventually? They seem to push on a nylon tube inside the tuner mechanism - these also are the same length.

What am I missing?

Hi Thomas,

The nylon hex tuners can get loose depending on age and usage.
They are Available from George L, or better yet, BMI sells them here http://www.beckmusicalinstruments.com/Part%27s-List.html
for .82 each.
FYI - on the BMI, each pull should have a Nylon hex tuner, a White Nylon Spacer, and a Bullet Nosed Metal Spacer on the pull rod next to the changer finger. Give Don and boys a call at the factory. They are great to deal with.
Hope this helps.

Cheers!
Benton
