Which 8- string tunings do feel fit the resonator guitar well, tonewise ?
I have a G6 tuning on mine with a 059 E on the bottom. I think a bit higher tuning might sound better on the instrument.

Interesting,I also play a G 6th 8-string reso ; now,
a higher tuning could result in a snappier sound, but
this doesn´t hold true for all resophonics ; it´s
also dependent on the spread in pitch from the low-
to-high string...I play a closely spaced tuning,but
if I were to step up at greater intervals, starting
off the root,8 strings would mean a painfully hi-
pitched treble end.McUtsi |

Well, when I was playing 6 strings I used the standard low C6 tuning (E-C-A-G-E-C). It sounded fine to me. I have plans for an 8 string right now. I will tune it to the first 8 strings of my pedal C6 ((D)-E-C-A-G-E-C-A). I expect it to sound great. And now that I have figured this tuning out, I'm finding it to be the most effective overall tuning I've ever tried. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |
