any suggestions on the best sounding preamp to go direct to the pa ?
Ive been using/trying many processors ei; digitech boss ect...
i still like my profex thru my fender twin,deluxe or session 400 amps but play gigs where i dont take amps. would like to use the profex but it sounds real thin direct to pa. sure would like to know what others think. |

| If I have to go DI, I use my POD XT on the presets that simulate a Twin Reverb and a 15" speaker. I also use the same setup for practicing with headphones at home - sounds almost as good as my Dual Showman Reverb head through 15s. |

| at one point i was using a boss gt-6 effects processor as a pre when the band i was in went to in ear monitors and i got it to sound pretty good and close to the real thing (a fender twin), so if you can get one, they are pretty easy to work with...but if you aren't strapped for cash and want to go all out...check out the revelation pre from brad sarno...from what i hear, it is pretty sweet...my two cents... |

The LeMay Preamp is new on the market. I haven't tried one yet but if I were in the market for a great preamp I'd be checking just based on the specs I've read.

The Mesa Boogie Studio and Brad Sarno's Revelation Tube Preamp are two very popular preamps for steel guitar. This new LeMay preamp that Bob mentioned is another one that may end up being popular as more people try it out.

| For direct to FOH the Fractal Axe-Fx is by far and away the most versatile piece of gear I have owned. You can dial in any kind of clean tone you can imagine plus any sort of dirt, OD and modulation effects, etc., the list is practically endless. The delay and reverb are excellent, imho only eclipsed by the high end Eventide and Lexicon studio stuff. You also have the ability to split out a second channel for a personal stage monitor or power amp/guitar cab with a completely separate eq. Downside is that it's expensive, but once you start adding up all the other things it replaces, well, doesn't seem so bad then. |

I've found the Revelation Pre to be top notch in every application I have tried it ...including direct in the studio.
