Most, if not all, of those tracks will have Joaquin Murphey. I know Noel Boggs played with Spade's Big Band in the 50s. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

These recordings featured Joaquin Murphy. Noel Boggs was playing with Jimmy Wakely and Bob Wills during these years. There is a definate difference in the style of playing between Noel and Joaquin.
IMHO Joaquin had a lot of Hawiian tone in his playing where Noel did not. |

I have ripped the songs from that CD onto my hard drive.
The problem is, they are dumped into a common "Spade Cooley" folder and I can't tell for sure which came from that CD.
The tunes I can ID from that CD are generally not the highest sound quality, as you might expect from transcriptions. It isn't the best source of Noel Boggs or Joaquin Murphey material.
I can't confirm anything by Boggs on that CD. A few probably have no significant steel by anyone.
I have a Cooley version of Topeka Polka with Boggs, but it didn't come from that CD. And I have a Cooley version of You Better Do It Now that is likely Boggs, but it isn't from that CD.
There are at least 40 Cooley recordings with Boggs on steel, so they are out there--but not on that CD. |

Shame On You contains never released recordings of Spade, the King of Western Swing, and his band; some are so rare that in many cases they are the only recorded versions of the songs. Recorded over 1944 and 1945, they feature the vocal talents of Tex Williams (who went on to solo fame behind songs like "Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! That Cigarette!") and showcase Spade and Tex at the height of their collaborative efforts. 25 tracks! |
I don't have the CD with me, but the steel guitarist on all those tracks is Joaquin Murphey. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel
