Topic: String Gauge for a Rick B6 |

Hi guys,
I'm the relatively new owner of a 1946ish Rick B6.
It's in pretty nice shape, and I don't want to be the guy who ruins it...
I'm tuning to open D, using 17-22-26w-36-46-62
It seems that given the tuning and the short scale of the instrument, this should be fine for that neck... but I figured i'd just triple check -- i don't know how strong bakelite is, and don't want it warping over time.
Thoughts?

You won't be able to warp the Bakelite, James. I am not sure why you're using a .062 as the low D string (I use a set from .013 to .056), but that set of strings should work just fine on your Rickenbacker.

Yah, 62 is probably a bit much, huh? Coming from a more acoustic background, it seemed reasonable (given the low tuning and short scale)... but yeah, it's pretty thick. In fact, the whole set is a bit heavier than needed, but they do sound great...
