Need Road Steel player for dates with WC Edgar

Post by W. C. Edgar »

I need someone that can play the signature licks from my current CD "Alcohol Of Fame" that has Mike Johnson on it. When I have to do covers it's all Haggard/Jones/Mel Street and that kind of stuff.

We leave from the Wichita KS area and some of the band is in Amarillo TX area also. I work coast to coast in Casinos, clubs, festivals, and just returned from France with the band. This is hard-core honky tonk Country Music and NO top 40 Rascal Flats, Kenny Chesney faggot music. Holler with any questions. If you have a day job and a big mortage two cars, a boat and a kid in College then this isn't for you. If you have substance abuse problems, personality issues, a nagging wife or girlfriend or don't know who Merle Haggard is please don't call. I don't care what you look like as long as you have all your teeth and aren't a Green Bay Packers Fan. I'm super easy to get along with as are the other band members and it's your ideal steel job. Right now I don't have that many dates and it might be worth your while to call. As to ability, everyone has to start somewhere so If you have some good licks & intonation and really want to learn with a real country group this could be for you.

Thanks!

PS don't leave me a message here because I rarely get on the forum and yes you need a current drivers license and probably a car. A valid US passport probably wouldn't hurt either. Thanks, WC

Hey W.C. if you move the band to Charlotte NC I'll come by and play a few tunes with you and see if it works. I have most of my hair and I am a Jets fan, is that a problem ? Oh, and I only drink Cold Beer and I have my own car and Drivers License...

Good luck with the band and the gigs, wishing you the best..

t

by the way, great tracks on your ms page...

Tony,

Knoxville is pretty close to Charlotte. If WC needs a fiddle player, you and I could go in halves on buying a car. I've got $57 dollars I could put down on it.

Seriously, W.C., in jest, really makes some good points about being a band member. I'll translate. You don't have to be the best picker in the business, but you have to be dependable, reliable, have the means to get to the gigs, get along with people, and be willing to do the music that the boss wants to do.

That's not asking too much. I wish I had the time and geography to do it. I'd be giving W.C. a call right now.

Is this an equal employment opportunity for Californians, Canadians, liberals, and Jesus slipper wearers?

Anybody know if this job has been filled? I've emailed him twice and left a message on his phone with no response.

Please close this thread. Thanks to all who contacted me.

I have only found one guy in the US that can play the licks from my CD and make very few if any mistakes and thats Randy Smith in Memphis Tennessee. He won't leave his day job because I can't pay enough right now so I'm having a S-10 stand up pedal guitar built with 3 pedals and 3 knees and a volume knob on the guitar and it will be kind of a Alan Jackson meets Jr Brown but no matter what it is it'll damn sure be Hard Core Country! On good paying jobs I may contract someone to play steel if I feel the attitude and ability are there.
