I would like to have some feedback from anyone on the Forum who has played or is the owner of a Wolfe Resoport guitar (has holes on the top similar to the Ovation Adamas guitars).

(Please do not send me any video links to people playing them. The quality of sound on those videos is very poor at the best.)

I already own a Wolfe reso guitar, so I am familiar with the fine workmanship on his instruments.

I was unaware of their existence until now. I hope you've asked this same question on some of the more dobro-oriented web sites such as Reso-Nation or Reso Hangout. They certainly look interesting to me!

Bobby Wolfe brought one of the prototypes to a festival and I played it. An interesting concept,
an "acoustic tone control". I have not seen one of the later models, but I am sure they are up to Bobby's usual standards of fine sounding guitars with
first class workmanship.

I have a walnut Wolfe resoport, almost 2 years old now. I love the instrument, great sound, huge volume and projection. You should contact Bobby and let him explain his design theory. He is an amazing man. I have never compared mine to one of his older non ported boxes so I can't help you there.
Bobby and Dick DeNeve are two of the first to start building their own custom dobro's many years ago.
Bobby is also quite the historian on all things dobro and has had numerous articles and interview's published.

A friend of mine has one and it sounds great. I have a Wolffe conventional reso and I don't know that I'd trade with him but what the heck anything made by Bobby is great. I've visited his shop several times and he's a super great person.

I bought the last one Bobby Wolfe had. It is a beautiful figured Cherry wood, plus it sounds great!

After playing it at three opry shows and a bluegrass jam session at my house, all I can say is WOW! It has a clean, clear balanced sound and is LOUD. The sound jumps out of the box. Very easy to play.

The only bad thing is that Bobby says he might not be making anymore guitars, which would be a great loss because he has only recently created this inovation of the 'resoports'. His wife, Bobbie died less than a year ago so it might be good for his friends to call him.

I have never owned a Wolfe but I have played several in his shop and they are excellent instruments. Years ago I had a 60-D Dobro that had the straight cone. Bobby routed it out for me, put a quarterman in it along with a maple/ebony bridge. Before setting it up he asked me if I wanted an old timey sound or a modern sound. I told him I wanted modern and that was what I got--plus an amazing sounding instrument.

The man is a true dobro historian. I have a copy of a book he wrote.

He is a very nice man, an expert on resos and a true craftsman.
