Bobbe:
Just had a quick run thru of the new page. Like you say, everything a steel player would want or possibly need is there. Great job!
One comment I would mention, the blue writing in the left side scroll column is kinda hard to read against the bright red.

Hey Bobbe, what's with the Emmons plaque, it looks like it's got chrome or metal around it's perimeter. Nice horn. |

The metal trim around the plaque on Jeff's guitar is a piece that Jim Aycoth came up with a year or so ago that adds a little dimension to the standard plastic logo plate. The few new Emmonses I've seen that Ron Jr. is currently building no longer have this trim plate.

Hi Bobbe, you've really got it together this time, looks great. Graham, on my computer with browsers Netscape 3.04, 4.08, 4.77, 6.2 and IE 6, the writing is white on red, no blue. Anyway, nice site Bobbe. Keep up the good work, looking forward to coming back to Gnashville and meeting you one of these days. |

Well Bobbe Sleazmour, where did you ever get the idea for that absolutley beautiful sunburst finish on that Emmons? You know that the sunburst top and the sandalwood color makes it a "one of a kind" almost!!! |

Jim Aycoth had those polished backing plates fitted to the guitars he was displaying at ISGC 2001 - I, too, thought they looked great (the plastic logo is the only cheap-looking thing on an otherwise well-finished instrument) and, as he had a handful for sale, I grabbed one!
THe standard 'Emmons' nameplate is a push-fit into the backing-plate, and the existing screws will affix the assembly on the guitar.
I have a feeling Bobbe has them now available - no doubt he'll respond accordingly....

It REALLY PISSES ME OFF when Jim tells everyone that the nameplate was HIS IDEA! BULL..........I was the one to come up with that idea to machine the plate when Ron Jr and Chris Cid built My S-10.(2000)
I was at the 2000 Knoxville show when THE FIRST PERSON ORDERD one because he saw MINE IN THE EMMONS BOOTH, and ask JIM how much it would cost for Ron Jr. to machine Him one on his new EMMONS he orderd That day. Jim Aycoth charged him xxx amount of $$$,(I KNOW HOW MUCH, and WHO this person is)
I NOW have CAST a STERLIG SILVER EMMONS PLATE in wax, and CUT the "Backing" out...In other words, you can SEE through the Name plate, and the PLATE that Jim said HE COME UP WITH, (On my Emmons) I have spray painted the Aluminum plate TRANSPARENT TURQUOISE to match the Turquoise Mica.
I REALLY get TIRED of such Bull......
I'm DONE NOW!!! |

I have the polished plates on my push/pull and one of my LeGrande III's. They ad a pleasing dazzle to a rather lifeless piece of plastic. Thank you Ron Preston for coming up with the idea. I never felt that Aycoth cared enough about customer satisfaction to have an idea that good. |

Ron, are those machined nameplates still available? I am somewhat less than pleased with the plastic plate that sticks out on my LeGrande III.

Hey, Martin
Let me say first that I made only ONE, (for myself), But, I would have to get Permission from Ron and Rebecca Lashley FIRST, and let the orders go through the EMMONS CO. This is their Name, and I sure don't want to get sued because I was making a "KILLIN' on "STEELIN".....PS....DR. Bobby....were you talking about JIM, or ME?????
I could tell you some stories that would make you guys.......(I'm NOT going there, People)
That is ONE reason why JACK STRAYHORN LEFT the Emmons Co. Because of a PERSONALATY CLASH between Jim and Jo-ann.
But, that is none of my buisness, and that is ANOTHER THREAD.
Anyway, I might give Ron Jr. a call, and see if I can make these Emmons name plates, (IN Gold, silver, PLatinium, copper, Bronze, you name it, I can cast it at the Collage I go to 5 day a week. (NorthWestern University, Natchioches, Louisiana)
I will graduate next March 2003 as a JEWLER and ingraver.
You guys talk to Ron and Rebecca about calling me at (318)-628-5744 |

Hi Bobbe,
The new site looks great! I think it is a great resource for current and future steelers. Once you populate the Referrals Section, and maybe even set up a special discussion area for us P/P owners, people will be coming to your site on a regular basis.
I am involved with the website at my current job and understand that it takes a lot of time, effort and money to create and maintain an e-commerce site like yours.
We have found that our ‘actual’ website sales represents about 1% of our total overall sales; however its greatest achievement is that it has proven to be an excellent marketing tool, and leads us to more traditional sales later on after someone discovers us on the web first.
Therefore, make sure you submit your site to all the major search engines, i.e Google, Yahoo, AOL, Alta Vista, Ask.com etc. because it’s the people who don’t already know about you that you want to bring to your site as well. Your site is filled with great ‘steel guitar keywords’ so getting a listing near the top on these engines should not be a problem. If you need any help, just let me know.

Ron
I'm sorry that I appear to have upset you but, if you check my 'post' I didn't say that Jim actually took any credit for the idea, simply that they were fitted to the steels he had on display. I merely took advantage of the opportunity to buy one (for $20, in fact), and I'm pleased I did, for the 'Great Emmons Rift' occurred shortly after St Louis 2001 - it might have been difficult to obtain one in light of the more serious issues at hand.
While I in no way doubt the veracity of what you're saying, at least two other people I have spoken with have claimed credit for this idea; I think it's likely that a number of fertile minds have reached the same conclusions, and perhaps voiced them at some time to Jim Aycoth. Whoever's responsible, the item is, in my opinion, a most satisfactory touch of cosmetics....

Roger, No problem, You did not upset me at all, I just KNOW Jim, and he has taken credit for SEVERAL things in the past that I have heard him say to people, and I know that it was not true. We can twist a word or two to give people the impression that we done this or that. And I never thought of it, but you are right, I bet I'm not the ONLY one that thought of the Plate, but, I haven't seen one. So, I will RETRACT my statement. I just happened to be creative when us guys custom built my axe. I did some "off The Wall" thinking and asked Ron Jr. his opinion on several different things. If he had said to me..."Ron, I think that might suck", I would have NOT done it. Ol Ron has seen them ALL, every make, Model, and color, so, I took his advice on EVERYTHING...(Pick-up, Color, Where the A-B-C pedals were placed, and so on.) No, Roger, You had NOTHING to do with me "getting out of shape"......
Thanks,
Ron

O' Dr. Bobby
COOL website....Damn it, though, WHY isn't the BLOND INCLUDED? Maybe she could teach ME a SLOW LICK or 2...LOL
See ya in a couple of weeks and I will bring one STERLING SILVER EMMONS name plate up so you can see what I have going on....They look really good, but, after casting one, you have to TRUMM the inside lettering to perfection. TRUMMING is when you take nylon twine, rub JEWLERS ROUGE on the string, then run the string through the cut-out name plate, and BUFF LIKE HELL. It is quite Time consuming, but WELL worth the effort to smooth out the edges to a super bright shine. I know that if Ron Jr. and Rebecca gives the OK, I can cast BUNCHES and sell them for XXX amount of $$$, then in turn, he can Sell them to you POOR, UNDERPAID, HARD WORKING-SELLING DEALERS. Thanks for the E-mail...Good price. I will keep it as LOW as I can so you guys can make a-buck-or-two...BUT, I MUST talk to the HEAD-MAN...(or should I say..HEAD WOMAN first.)
