Anyone have Charlie Christian pickup recordings?

I was wondering if anyone has a recording of a lap steel with a Charlie Christian pickup that they would be willing to share. I've heard them in guitars but not in lap steels. I'm assuming that they would have a warm but clear tone but I wasn't sure.

Thanks in advance for any feedback you may have.

Joel Paterson's cd 'Steel Is Real' features some tunes on a CC steel.
I think he has a myspace page with sound samples. Also CD Baby might have them.

It's worth buying Joel Paterson's CD. Highly recommended. He gets some great sounds from his instruments.

Here's one you can listen to...It's a 1938 Gibson EH150 with a CC p/up.

Carl & Mike -

Thank you for the Joel Paterson suggestion. I really like the clips on his MySpace page. I had found a post of his where he said he used a Gibson with a CC pickup on a certain song but that song was no longer there. I'll probably pick up his CD, though, because the music is very cool.

Harry -

Thank you for the MP3, it was very informative. I really like the tone and your playing was very nice. The CC pickup seems to be full bodied but with a nice top end. From the descriptions, I couldn't tell if the pickup would sound "open" enough for me but it seems to sound really good. If you have a moment, please let me know what tuning you used for that song and give any comments you might have about the pickup (i.e. - do you like the tone compared to your other steels, etc.) It sounds like there is a high G# in there. Am I correct?

I use an extended E major tuning with the G# on top.

The p/up was re-wound by Jason Lollar, and re-magged by my good pal Rick Aiello. The recording was through a Roland Micro Cube.

Nice job on Bali Hai...just one small problem, the bridge is not correct. I have two Gibson EH-150, both with a CC pickup. The tone you get on your Gibson is excellent. :D

You're welcome, Michael. Hope this helped.

Sorry George

I was just "noodling" when I recorded that song. Someday I might do it over the right way.
