I started to put this in the "Show Us Your 'Bud" thread, but I think it deserves it's own thread.

This is my next re-build project, a Sho Bud Super Pro. I had Mark Giles, the master builder and re-finisher of guitar bodies, to refinish it, and it is absolutely beautiful. Evidently the original color was green, but it had faded to an ugly brown. Mark refinished it in blue, and also changed the banding to abalone with accent stripes above and below. It looks much better than the original. Now I have a ton of work to do polishing all of the aluminum and putting it all back together. Of course pictures are worth a thousand words. The last picture is a "before". I'll post more pics when it's finished in a few months.

Bill, the keyheads on this Bud have extensions on them that fit up into the cutouts on the neck. It probably helps distribute the string tension over a little more of the body.

Thanks for all the comments, Mark does superb work. One of these days, I'll have a Giles Custom archtop six string in my collection. Move over a little Bob Benedetto, Mark Giles is here. Smile

That is an incredible job by Mark. He is such a modest guy too. I just love the abalone inlay - it makes the finish really classy.
