Gratuitous new ditty - Yellow Roses mp3

I recorded this classic tune last night, using my Clinesmith lap steel through a Princeton Reverb, as well as a 1924 Gibson L-4, Dunn Rhythm Futur guitar, Kay bass, and some tired pipes.
Anyway, this has long been a favorite of mine. I stuck pretty close to the Ry Cooder/Gabby Pahinui version but added a little improvisation.

Mike, your playin is always inspiring and that lap steel sounds wonderful. What did you use for a recorder?

That was beautiful Mike!
Can you spell the tuning you are using?
And if you would be so kind, can you explain how to play the intro? That one always threw me!
Thanks
Bill

Very nice there Mike. I always loved Ry's take on the song and it's nice how you took the feel from his version and put your own personality into it. That half step up and back at the end is just so corny that's it's cool. Super job.

Just beautiful... love what you're getting out of the Clinesmith. And, tired pipes or not, you got soul-- I could have stood to hear the vocs up a notch. Sweet stuff.

great stuff. but how about sharing with your harmonically-challenged brethren info about the tuning you used, and kick-starting us on figuring out that delicious intro? thanks!

Very nice Mike. Bobby Ingano has been playing that tune for a long time, maybe because of Gabby. I first heard it when Hank Snow recorded it around 1952.
