First post, so I’d thought I’d introduce myself .

I recently picked up a 6 string lap steel from a local music store and I’m having a great time finding my way around this instrument. However, through this website and others, I’ve found that I’m on the tip of a giant iceberg. There’s certainly a lot to learn!

Been playing music most of my life and am primarily a bassist. I play 4,7 and 9 string basses, which are nothing compared to 3 or 4 necks of lap steel all tuned differently. I’ve ordered some DVD’s to get me started and I’ll try E9th and C6th tuning and see which suits me best.

Lap steel might take me a while to learn, but it’ll be rewarding and a lot of fun as well.

It's also highly addictive, soon you'll be looking for ways to convert your 9-string bass to a bass steel... Shocked Cool
