This past weekend in Sisters, Oregon. Home of the largest rodeo on that weekend in the country. I was able to listen to Doug Jones in great form despite the weather. Doug was playing with the Pete Ford band and they were awsome. It's such a gift to us newbies to have such talented players right here in our area.

Man, you said a mouthful. Doug Jones is one of the top players in the Northwest -- if not THE top player.

He's the guy who makes everybody's jaw drop when it's his turn to play at the steel guitar jams. And you know how hard it is to impress a room full of hot steelers...

Nice guy, too. Very Happy

Very Happy Whoa! Laughing Rolling Eyes

Hi David : Makes me a little angry when folks like you mention a good steel picker and don't give your fellow SGF members something to click onto so we can have the privelege of hearing them play.. could you kindly post a click which we can hear your buddy play great steel. I surely would appreciate it a great deal..Thanks..Bernie Very Happy Whoa! Rolling Eyes Laughing

I'll second, third, fourth, the above comments. Not only is he a fantastic steel player, he's a great guy, a bit of a comedian, and more than willing to share his knowledge with fledglings like myself. Here's to you, Doug! "I'll take that table over there by the window. Would you mind asking those two gentleman to move please?" (this is a private joke that Doug will understand, if he reads this thread)

Ray -- Thanks for the kudos to Doug playing with our band, Blue Moon Highway. That was a few years ago...he's a great player, especially if you give him room to soar. He did some great stuff at that show...on that song. A great player...even greater friend. Love you Dougie!!!

As an aside, our good friend Harley James has been playing with us of late. Check out http://www.myspace.com/bluemoonhighway for some live and studio cuts with Harley.

I got with the Dougster years ago and taught him both of my licks, and look at him today, he now plays them forward AND backwards doubling his bag of tricks. Nice work Doug all of that hard work has paid off. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Doug is everything mentioned above and much more to me. I have the advantage of letting Doug spend his money on gear and then getting his feed back before I spend my money. I am saving thousands thanks to Doug. Evil Twisted Evil Twisted

Thanks Doug

David, it was great having you out in that raucus crowd. It's always a blast to have a fellow picker out there to pick for.
And Thanks for all the kind words from everyone!

Here's a few more vids of recent stuff.

This is a music video of a song I did the session work on. What a blast!

Hi Stu,

I keep thinking maybe this august but no plans set and little funding available to support such. It will happen, though, eventually

Maybe by then global warming will have kicked in and we can go swimming in the ocean!

Say hi to the gang for me
